The cycle of wooden sculptures ELEMENTUM

eLEMENTUM cycle opens the subject of forces that control the nature and the human being – its external manifestations, actions, thoughts and feelings. Shape symbolism of sculptures is based on elementary organic shapes that show the manifestation of the ubiquitous energy of nature.

The author composes images in series and points to their interconnectedness. Each of the sculptures is simply associated with a particular element. As well as in nature, everything is connected (for example, water contains oxygen, the earth needs water, and there is no fire without the air), so the works contain shapes that complement and naturally intertwine. In addition, it combines the basic common material from which sculptures are made - wood.

Wood is a natural material  that acts in the space in which it is placed as a source of pure energy, it is filled with heat, but also with rawness and unrestrainedness. The author sensitively  shapes and strengthens his features.

Working with wood is often mechanical and lengthy and determines the bright rhythm of creation. Each notch of the chisel is one step to the final line. Sometimes the shape, color and structure of the raw wood is inspired by the artist, and sometimes the idea of the author is at the beginning, and an adequate piece of wood is being sought for the idea. Wood defects and unevenness in the material are often used to enhance the impression of an artwork and to support the whole idea.

Objects can be hung on a wall or other flat surface. However, they can also be installed to hang in the open space or lay on the floor or plinth.

All the works are part of the processes that the author has recorded since the beginning of 2017 and have continued to this day.
